Our Story

Nocell Technologies was founded by a group of technology experts to make a difference in driver safety. We united with a burning desire to do something about the deadly and costly distracted driving epidemic.

We believe smartphone app prevalence and addictiveness, combined with human behavior, has drastically intensified the distracted driving problem—and that an enterprise-grade technology solution will overcome it. Our spirited desire and belief propel us—and enlivens our purpose and values.

Fred Thiel | Co-CEO

Fred Thiel Co-CEO

Fred Thiel has over 30 years of experience leading and advising technology companies in the enterprise software, data communications/M2M, Internet of Things (IoT), automation, digital media and security sectors.

As a respected expert and visionary, Thiel is a frequent speaker on the Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, data monetization, financial technology, predictive analytics, and the digital transformation of enterprises and industries.

As a CEO, Thiel has led companies through rapid growth to IPO, repositioned companies for high value exits to strategic and financial acquirers, and initiated M&A and roll-up strategies.

Thiel serves is an advisor to private equity and venture capital firms and is chairman/director of a number of private and public company boards globally.

Thiel attended the Stockholm School of Economics and executive classes at Harvard Business School and is fluent in English, Spanish, Swedish and French.

Sam Inman | Co-CEO

Sam Inman Co-CEO

Sam Inman has an extensive career in technology leadership and board experience.

Prior to its acquisition by OpenText in 2017, Inman served as President, CEO and Chairman of Covisint Corporation, a leading provider of Cloud and IoT technology to Fortune 500 enterprises.

Prior to his tenure at Covisint, he was President and CEO of Comarco Wireless Technologies, a California-based provider of innovative mobile power and test solutions.

Inman has also served as Executive Chairman of Think Outside; Co-CEO and Chairman for Viking Components; CEO and President of Centura Software; President and COO of Ingram Micro and President of the IBM PC Company, Americas.

Inman is an honored Purdue University alumnus, Chairman of DN Tanks, and advisory board member for ChannelNet.

Don McKeefery | Chief Operating Officer

Don McKeefery Chief Operating Officer

Don McKeefery has an expansive career leading manufacturing and engineering operations for a diversity of global technology companies—spanning consumer electronics, hard drives, wireless, bio-medical, medical device, and military aviation electronics.

At Nocell Technologies, McKeefery leads day-to-day operations, including architecture, design, development, and manufacturing of NOCELL’s enterprise-grade driver device management DDM™ platform.

Prior to Nocell Technologies, McKeefery used his leadership expertise to advise CEOs and private business owners in the optimization of their personnel and fleets to bring efficiency and position them for growth and profitability.

Formerly, McKeefery served as the COO for Comarco, Inc., a wireless technology company, where he scaled the global organization and manufacturing capabilities to support the rapid growth leading up to Comarco landing in the spotlight on the Fastest Growing Public Companies list in the Orange County Business Journal (OCBJ). McKeefery also held key operations and manufacturing leadership roles at Western Digital (WD), EDAP TMS, and Beckman Coulter, among others.

McKeefery served honorably in the United States Marine Corps.

Bob Newkirk Chief Advisor

Bob Newkirk has over 30 years of experience leading and advising technology and OEM companies in the wireless data communications, SaaS, mobile apps, Internet of Things (IoT), polymers and energy sectors.

Newkirk is proficient at driving business strategy, positioning and brand development, marketing and sales, with expertise in launching new products and services, and accelerating market momentum for companies from early-stage startups to Fortune 500 enterprises.

At Nocell Technologies, Newkirk leads strategic direction, go-to-market plan, alliances and partnerships. He oversees business development, brand marketing, public relations and social media for NOCELL’s enterprise-grade driver device management DDM™ platform.

Prior to NOCELL, Newkirk served as CMO for Tourmaline Labs where he successfully launched a motion analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI) telematics technology that revolutionized data collection from smartphones globally.

Formerly, Newkirk served as Director of Channels for CalAmp (NASDAQ: CAMP), where he helped reposition CalAmp from a “black-box” GPS tracking, router and telematics OEM to a global forerunner leading transformation in the connected economy, by streamlining complex IoT deployments and bringing intelligence to the edge with connectivity and data in motion analytics.

Newkirk holds a marketing degree from Trinity University, a master’s in business administration from Lehigh University, and advises boards of several California-based technology organizations.
